Currency and exchange rates in Costa Rica
Costa Rica’s official currency is the Costa Rican colón – plural colones – abbreviated CRC, symbolized “₡” and named in honour of Christopher Columbus (Cristóbal Colón). The country’s inhabitants can use 25, 50, 100 and 500 CRC coins, as well as 1,000, 2,000, 5,000, 10,000 and 20,000 CRC bills.

Transportation in Costa Rica
Buses are the main means of transport in Costa Rica, with urban and intercity routes available at fares ranging from CRC 200 to 400 (EUR 36 to 72). Trains are also widely used to get around the country. Here are the prices quoted by Incofer (Costa Rica’s railway institute) for a one-way ticket:
